This Paris Air Show celebrates that 100 years ago the first Salon was held at the Grand Palais in central Paris in 1909.  Since 1953 the Paris Air Show is at the airport Le Bourget.
This year Airbus celebrates his 40th birday,  with a display at Wednesday afternoon with the protoypes of the Airbus A300B2,  A320,  A340-300 and A380.
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is one of the star attractions of the 2009 air show.  The Austrian Schiebel Campcopter was the first UAV shown in flight at an air show.  At the static there were four intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, Beechcraft King Air 350ER ISR, Gulfstream/IAI G.550 CAEW Eitam, Grumman E-2C Hawkeye and Bombardier Sentinel R.1.

The visitors of the weekend public days were treated to a more extensive display of historic aircraft like the Bleriot XI more than 100 years after its orignal Paris show debuut in December 1908. Dassault invited the Mirage IIIDS-EMIR of the Swiss  Musee Clin d’Ailes at Payerne, and plans to fly the Mirage with the Rafale, but it did not get past the authorities.

There were no aircraft of Embraer, or Sovjet fighters at this show. The number of aircraft presented this year is slightly down on 2007.
